on November 9, 2016, Donald J Trump won the united states presidential elect, pushing ahead to 276 votes over opponent Hilary Clinton 218. it was a seesaw the whole night, but trump won key states, like Florida and North Carolina. Earlier in the day, I ran to Costco to pick up a few things I arrived locked my car and walked in. as I looked around for milk and bread and other staples to my diet, I saw many people with the small round sticker with a peach on it that said “im a Georgia voter”. It was great to see people exercising their right to vote but there was also a nagging feeling in the back of my mind telling me that whatever the outcome of this election is the be historical and drastic. So I decided to talk to the people with the stickers.

i boldly walked up to A shorter black lady with a single gold tooth and a hairnet with a rectangular name tag with “ Mable “ engraved into it. She looked tired, ready to clock out. Her eyes slightly low dull, worn out. I greeted here had small talk about the weather and how it changes. Then I asked the question do you think America is going to change because of this election? She immediately lit up and said with a deep southern drawl “ child who knows what’s going to happen to this poor country, all I know is that I put my vote in because any little thing I can do to keep him out of our office, I will. I was initially shocked because she was bold enough to say that out loud. But then I understood her point of view. A lying sexist man who said racially charged slurs without remorse. Who would want that running our country? I thanked her and went about my business. I walked to the next lady. Short older with deep sea green eyes that could pull you in from miles away. Her opinion was simple “we are screwed either way it goes”. That was very simple, I thought. I walked out of Costco as a teen and thought about my own opinion. I would never side with trump no matter what he said. I believe that it only takes one time for a person to show you who they are. And he wasn’t my kind of person. Hilary wasn’t an angel either. Lying about emails wasn’t good. but then again your boyfriend can delete emails about him cheating on you.
